In the Beginning is the debut solo piano release from Monkey Records founder, Nigel Braddock. Braddock learnt piano from the age of five and completed a music degree majoring in piano performance before deciding the life of a classical musician was not for him. He’s been writing his own piano pieces for about twenty years but never got round to recording them.
In late 2022, he sat down to record the handful of pieces he’d already written plus, with a bit of luck, a few new ones. He ended up with twenty four recordings.
In the Beginning is the first of those new pieces.
He is greatly inspired by Nils Frahm, Max Richter, Hania Rani, Library Tapes, Joep Beving and Ludvico Einaudi.
Braddock’s other projects include Broad Oak, Cosmo and the Cosmonaut (with his son), The Mung Beings, Dystopia, The Tellurians and Choam Nomsky.
